Governor Abbott Unveils Border Plan as US Senate Kills Border Bill

The Senate has killed the border bill that Congress has been working on. This could also jeopardize the President’s aid to support Ukraine and Israel, which is expected to be voted on.

According to NBC News, the Senate will be voting on the foreign aid bill today.

According to NBC News, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has stated that…

“It looks to me, and to most of our members, as if we have no real chance here to make a law.”

The bill, as stated by Newsweek:

“The United States District Court for the District of Columbia shall have sole and original jurisdiction to hear challenges, whether constitutional or otherwise, to the validity of this section or any written policy directive, written policy guideline, written procedure, or the implementation thereof.”

Republican lawmakers voted against the border bill, as reported by CNN. GOP member Josh Hawley, a critic of Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, expressed his opposition to the bill.

“I just don’t think the last three months could have been handled any worse. Why would voters look at what goes on over here — the circus — and say, ‘Yeah. We want more of this?’”

Texas Governor Greg Abbott is set to unveil a border plan at Shelby Park on Thursday, February 8. He will be joined by 20 state representatives, as reported by News Nation Now.

The Biden administration’s efforts to address border protection were hindered when Governor Abbott took control of the park, believing that it was being used by illegal immigrants. Surprisingly, Eagle Pass Mayor Rolando Salinas was unaware of the state’s takeover of the park, as reported by The New York Post.
