University of Iowa basketball sensation Caitlin Clark is set to leave her Iowa Hawkeyes jersey behind.
On Thursday, she announced her decision to enter the WNBA draft this spring.

Clark, who recently achieved the remarkable feat of becoming the highest-scoring player in NCAA women’s history, expressed her deep gratitude to everyone who has supported her throughout her basketball career with the Hawkeyes. The WNBA draft is scheduled to occur on April 15, following the conclusion of the college basketball season. The NCAA is set to crown a women’s basketball champion on April 7 in Cleveland.
The Indiana Fever has secured the top spot in the draft, giving them the first pick.
In an impressive display of skill, Clark, a senior, scored an outstanding 33 points in the game against Minnesota on Wednesday. With this remarkable feat, she solidified her position as the all-time leading scorer among women who have played for major colleges. Previously, this record was held by the esteemed Lynette Woodard of Kansas, who had amassed a total of 3,650 points during her playing career from 1977 to 1981, a time when women’s sports were overseen by the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW).
Clark is on the verge of becoming the highest-scoring NCAA basketball player of all time, as she is just 17 points away from surpassing Pete Maravich’s record of 3,667 points.
Clark, who earned the title of The Associated Press’ player of the year last year, has developed a knack for delivering impressive performances. She consistently puts up big numbers, averaging an impressive 32 points per game. In fact, there have been at least four occasions this season where she has tallied an astounding 40 points.
Clark, a 6-foot guard from West Des Moines, has been showcasing her skills on the court. Not only is she averaging over 8 assists per game, but she recently achieved a significant milestone in her college career. This month, Clark recorded her 1,000th assist, a feat that has only been accomplished by five other women in the history of college basketball.
