A ‘Most Wanted Alert’ is issued by TBI for a fugitive inmate

A Tennessee Most Wanted Alert has been issued by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office for an escaped inmate in Hendersonville, Tennessee.

A reward of $2,500 awaits anyone with information that can facilitate the arrest of 41-year-old William Henry Rutherford. Rutherford was apprehended on July 5, 2023, for various offenses, such as attempted second-degree murder, aggravated assault, being a felon in possession of a weapon, and tampering with evidence.

Rutherford, along with Kenneth Campbell and Elvis Bush, managed to escape from the Sumner County jail on Thursday night.

Campbell, who is 29 years old, and Bush, who is 43 years old, were both incarcerated for primarily drug-related offenses. In addition, Campbell was charged with theft and being a felon in possession of a weapon.

Early Friday morning, Bush was apprehended and taken back into custody, while Campbell and Rutherford are still evading capture.
