I-285 Shootout Caught on Camera: Witness Describes it as the Craziest Thing Ever Seen

A dramatic gunfight unfolded on Interstate 285 and was captured on camera.

The truck driver narrowly escaped the gunfire and managed to capture the moment.

Ronald Butler noticed a black SUV while he was driving an 18-wheeler on Saturday.

“I glanced at my right mirror and caught sight of a vehicle racing towards me at an astonishing speed. It was a sleek black SUV, swiftly overtaking another vehicle on the right shoulder before zooming past,” Butler vividly recounted.

Butler noticed a spark emerging from the black SUV as he began to slow down, with approximately 76,000 pounds on board.

The black car exchanged gunfire with the SUV, with both vehicles firing at least 10 times.

It was around 8 p.m. on Saturday when a chaotic scene unfolded on I-285 southbound before Lavista Road. In the midst of the chaos, dozens of people found themselves stranded on the roadway.

Butler expressed his astonishment at the reckless behavior of these individuals, stating, “These guys were putting everyone at a significant risk, it was absolutely insane. I have never witnessed anything like this before.”

After his wife made a frantic call to 911, the DeKalb County Police were unable to locate the vehicles when they arrived at the scene. With his camera recording for liability purposes, Butler, who has years of experience as a truck driver, stated that he has witnessed numerous incidents throughout his career, but nothing as astonishing as what unfolded on I-285.

“On the road, I’ve witnessed numerous extraordinary incidents, from accidents and severe weather conditions to tornadoes and encounters with wild animals. However, nothing could have prepared me for the mind-boggling spectacle I witnessed in Atlanta. It was by far the most surreal experience of my entire life.”
