Greg Abbott accuses Joe Biden of exploiting immigrants for political gain

Governor Greg Abbott (R-TX) strongly criticized President Joe Biden for treating immigrants as mere “political pawns” upon their arrival in the United States.

During an interview on Fox News Sunday, Governor Abbott discussed his recent visit to New York City, which has experienced an influx of 157,000 immigrants between 2022 and 2023, as reported by Mayor Eric Adams. Governor Abbott clarified that while he has transported immigrants from Texas to the sanctuary city, the number of immigrants sent from his state constitutes only a small portion of the total arrivals.

According to Abbott, it is Joe Biden who is using illegal immigrants as political pawns. He claims that Biden’s open border policy has allowed illegal immigrants to enter the country, in an effort to appeal to the far leftists in the Democratic Party like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Abbott suggests that Biden is trying to win their support while simultaneously causing harm to the country he is supposed to lead.

New York City has welcomed more than 40,600 immigrants who have been transported from Texas since August 2022. In contrast, Texas continues to face the challenges of illegal immigration, with local law enforcement apprehending over 506,500 illegal immigrants since the initiation of Operation Lone Star in March 2021. Governor Abbott has attributed the decline in the number of immigrants crossing into Texas to his effective policies.

According to Governor Abbott, Texas has emerged as the top state for job growth, with the highest number of new jobs being added. Remarkably, this growth is taking place alongside a significant decline in illegal immigration. Governor Abbott proudly stated that illegal immigration in the state has plummeted by an impressive 72%, thanks to the strong measures implemented. In contrast, other border states have experienced an increase in illegal immigration. Therefore, Texas is successfully curbing illegal immigration while simultaneously boosting job opportunities and fostering a rapidly growing economy that outpaces the rest of the nation.

Abbott’s immigration policies are currently facing legal challenges from the Department of Justice under the Biden administration. Despite this, the governor remains confident that his laws will prevail in court.

In just a single month, the southern border witnessed the apprehension of a staggering 137,000 migrants. This number adds to the already alarming count of over 10 million immigrants who have reportedly entered the country illegally since Biden assumed office. These figures mark the highest recorded influx within such a short span of time under any administration.
