District confirms two Sauk Trail Elementary students killed in Middleton homicide

Three individuals, including two students from Sauk Trail Elementary School, tragically lost their lives, and another person sustained injuries in a homicide that occurred on Sunday night in Middleton, as reported by the police.

Around 7:40 p.m. on Sunday, Middleton police responded to a check property complaint in the 6300 block of Maywood Avenue, related to the incident. Upon arrival, a man emerged from the residence, disclosing that he had been shot multiple times.

Additional law enforcement, including the Dane County Sheriff’s office, were summoned to the scene. Upon entering the residence, officers discovered three deceased individuals. The Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District confirmed that two of the victims were students at Sauk Trail Elementary School.

The surviving man, who received assistance from officers, is currently in stable condition. Middleton police emphasized that the investigation is ongoing, assuring the public that there is no present threat. They also stated that no additional individuals are being sought at this time.

The identities of the deceased will be disclosed at a later time, respecting the process of notifying their families.
