DA reports Chester, Pennsylvania workplace shooting leaves 2 dead, 5 shot

According to the district attorney, a tragic workplace shooting took place on Wednesday at Delaware County Linen in Chester, Pennsylvania, resulting in five people being shot and two losing their lives.

According to Stollsteimer, two individuals tragically lost their lives today at work due to a disgruntled former employee. Additionally, three others are currently receiving medical treatment, and our thoughts and prayers are with them.

The shooting took place at approximately 8:30 a.m. on the 2600 block of West 4th Street. According to investigators, the incident occurred both inside and outside of the linen store.

According to Stollsteimer, there was one fatality inside the store and another outside.

“This heartbreaking account is unfortunately all too common in the United States of America,” lamented Stollsteimer.

During a press conference, Mayor Stefan Roots of the City of Chester revealed that one of the victims was the supervisor of the perpetrator.

The shooter tried to flee but was apprehended by the police in Trainer, Delaware County, according to the DA.

According to Stollsteimer, the shooting involved the use of a handgun.

According to sources, investigators discovered a semi-automatic 9mm handgun inside the vehicle that the man escaped in.

During an exclusive interview with CBS News Philadelphia, the district attorney emphasized the concerning issue of an excessive number of firearms being possessed by individuals who are not qualified to have them.

“Just regular individuals trying to go to work, provide for their families, and live the American Dream,” Stollsteimer expressed. “Before 10 a.m. this morning, they tragically lost their lives. Their families’ lives have been shattered.”

The mayor urged for more stringent gun legislation and improved mental health services.

“It’s a conversation about guns in America. Our city is grappling with a persisting issue of violence, and fortunately, we have incredible organizations working tirelessly to tackle it from various angles. The situation is truly heart-wrenching and tragic, and it’s high time for it to come to an end,” expressed Roots. “Chester, Pennsylvania didn’t anticipate becoming the epicenter of yet another incident of workplace violence. We’re a close-knit community where everyone knows one another. We’re like a big family, which is why this hurts so deeply for countless individuals.”

The identity of the alleged shooter is not being disclosed by investigators at this time.

The mayor announced that the city received a communication from the White House.
