There has been a recent surge in cheating incidents in fishing tournaments, and we are not alone in facing this issue.

During a recent fishing tournament, a handful of competitors resorted to cheating by dishonestly manipulating their catches. Instead of relying on their skills and luck, these individuals were caught in the act of tampering with their fish by adding weights to make them appear heavier than their actual weight. This deceitful tactic resulted in an unfair advantage over the honest participants.

When the individuals engaging in cheating were caught red-handed, they were subjected to significant repercussions. They were promptly disqualified from the tournament, deprived of any prizes they might have secured, and may even face potential criminal charges. Moreover, they are likely to encounter a strong backlash from the fishing community. It is crucial to recognize that cheating not only besmirches the reputation of those involved but also tarnishes the integrity of the entire tournament. This serves as a poignant reminder that dishonesty ultimately yields no benefits.

Recently here in Alabama,ย Cullman Dailyย posted about Tyler Wesley…

Tyler Wesley, a local fisherman who was disqualified from the Temple Baptist Bass Tournament last year, recently failed another polygraph test at a tournament on Lake Mitchell.

The Cullman Daily News has recently caught wind of a fishing cheat that has been circulating in town.

Wesley emerged as the champion of the tournament even before the tournament director received a tip. However, both Wesley and his partner were subsequently mandated to undergo a test, which they failed. It is customary for tournament directors to administer a polygraph when suspicions of cheating arise in larger fishing tournaments.

Chris Mote stated that…

How did he cheat? Is there any evidence besides the test? I would probably fail the test even if I didn’t catch a fish just because I have to take it due to false accusations! So please, tell us what exactly did he do?

The purpose of the polygraph test was to determine if he cheated. However, taking a polygraph test to prove cheating was not a wise move. It raises doubts and questions about his actions. Just like how I have seen fishermen cheat by cutting fish or stuffing them with weights to deceive others, cheating is not a commendable act.

If he was disqualified last year for the same thing, then he should have been prohibited from participating in other tournaments if he has a reputation for such behavior. That’s just my opinion.

There is a straightforward solution to this problem – simply prohibit him from participating in any fishing tournaments!
