Alabama is home to the top-ranked high school baseball team in the nation

According to Baseball America, Alabama is home to the top-ranked high school baseball team in the nation.

AJ Kehoe’s Central-Phenix City Red Devils have claimed the top spot on the website’s ranking of the top 35 teams in the nation.

The Central team has been performing exceptionally well this season with a record of 22-1. However, they did face a setback when they lost to Mill Creek, Ga. by a narrow margin of 3-2 on April 2nd.

In the most recent Alabama Sports Writers Association Class 7A rankings, they have claimed the top spot.

On Friday, Central has a doubleheader scheduled with Pike Road.

The rankings by Baseball America are determined through a poll conducted by the National High School Baseball Coaches Association. Representatives from 10 distinct regions nominate teams from their respective geographical areas.

Flower Mound, Texas, Doral, Florida, Corona, California, and Jackson Prep, Mississippi make up the top five.

Central, the sole representative from Alabama in the top 35, emerged as the victors of the Class 7A state championship in 2022. They had previously secured the runner-up position to Vestavia Hills in the preceding year.
