Alabama Department of Corrections is still looking for a wanted escapee

The Alabama Department of Corrections is actively searching for Ricky Lavon Lay, a 39-year-old fugitive escapee.

The ADOC has reached out to the public for help in their search. Lay is known to be 5โ€ฒ10โ€ณ tall and weighs approximately 175 lbs. He also has tattoos.

Lay had been imprisoned for burglary at the Mobile Community-Based Facility and Community Work Center in Mobile. He was serving a 16-year sentence at the time of his death.

According to reports, it is believed that he managed to escape from the Steiner Shipyard, where he had been working at the time. Lay allegedly left the job site without obtaining any approval.

According to officials, he was last spotted on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at approximately 3:30 p.m., wearing a green shirt, blue jeans, and work boots.

According to investigators, Lay has connections in Mississippi and Alabama and is known to frequently visit both states.

Central Alabama Crime Stoppers is currently providing a monetary reward for any valuable information that can help in finding Lay.
