Additional fatality reported following car crash turned shooting in Kansas City

A shooting in Kansas City has claimed the life of a second victim, according to authorities.

The shooting occurred shortly after 2 a.m. in the vicinity of 39th and Woodland. According to the Kansas City Police, the incident began as a report of gunshots following a collision.

According to the Kansas City Police Department (KCPD), a number of individuals were present at the intersection due to a non-injury collision. An altercation ensued at the crash site, which ultimately escalated into a shooting incident.

One of the victims has been identified by the police as 31-year-old Deion Lewis, while they continue their efforts to determine the identity of the second victim.

According to a preliminary investigation by KCPD, detectives believe that both victims were engaged in firing shots.
