A man from Depew has been sentenced to 20 years in prison by the Erie County District Attorney’s Office for his involvement in a home invasion in Amherst in 2022. The incident resulted in a man being critically injured.
Jason K. Evans, 37, has been convicted of two serious offenses: first-degree burglary and first-degree robbery.
In October 2022, Evans and 34-year-old Mark S. Shadle of Kenmore broke into a residence on Bucyrus Drive in the Town of Amherst. Once inside, the two men proceeded to tie up, threaten, assault, and steal from the homeowner, before making off with several belongings from the house.
Evans could potentially be sentenced to a maximum of 20 years in prison, along with an additional five years of post-release supervision.
In December 2023, a seven-day trial took place where the jury swiftly reached a verdict of guilty for both Shadle and Evans after only two hours of deliberation.
In February, Shadle received a sentence for being a persistent violent felony offender, which means he will spend 23 years to life in prison.
