A single mother in Georgia can now breathe a sigh of relief as she no longer needs to worry about walking her baby to daycare, struggling with the bus schedule to get to work, and living a life with limited mobility.
“I used to have a car, but I was involved in a car accident in 2021. Ever since then, it has been a constant struggle for me to reach a stable financial position that would allow me to afford another car,” explained Cournae Maxwell, a 26-year-old individual.
On Wednesday, Maxwell received a car of her own through the collaboration of the National Auto Body Council Recycled Rides program, Travelers Insurance, and Classic Collision of Marietta, along with other partners.
Daniel Standridge from Classic Collision of Marietta expressed their commitment to giving back to the communities in the 16 states where they operate and do business.
Maxwell’s life was transformed by Wellroot, a nonprofit organization that she believes has made a significant impact. Wellroot, which is dedicated to foster care and family services, nominated Maxwell.
“It has been a life-changing experience, to say the least. I have received an incredible amount of support and access to valuable resources. They have shown a willingness to stand by me and provide assistance in any area I required,” expressed Maxwell gratefully.
Tayeka Bryan from Wellroot explained that their organization provides a range of family-supportive services. They offer assistance to both youth in foster care and those who are transitioning out of the system.
According to the nonprofit organization, Maxwell has demonstrated incredible resilience and determination in overcoming personal challenges. Despite her struggles, she has managed to thrive and achieve success. Currently, Maxwell is employed by the DeKalb County School District. With the ceremony concluded, she now has a car of her own, symbolizing the start of a new chapter in her life. This new phase promises greater independence and opportunities for Maxwell.
