“I believe they will most likely install counterfeit license plates on the vehicles and sell them. That would be my assumption. We managed to track one of the vehicles heading north on 65, so we are quite confident that they left the state promptly.”

Lawrenceburg Police Department Sergeant John Smith stated, “We have reason to believe that this is an organized criminal operation. The thieves have been targeting car dealerships specifically, and they appear to have extensive knowledge of the industry.”

In Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, the police firmly believe that a group of individuals employing a meticulously planned approach targeted a dealership, located just seventeen miles away from the Alabama border.
According to Jeff Renfro from the Lawrenceburg Police Department, the thieves have been targeting the dealership between midnight and dawn, specifically around 1 a.m. They enter the premises by breaking windows, leave temporarily, and then return to break into the dealership. They locate the lockbox and pry it open, stealing the vehicles. This criminal activity typically occurs between 12 a.m. and 5 a.m., with most of the victims being affected during this time frame.
The office break-in was caught on surveillance video, clearly showing the suspects as they entered and stole dealer license plates.
The thieves managed to escape with a total of $300,000 worth of stolen vehicles, including a 2024 Z06 Corvette valued at $150,000, a 2024 GMC Sierra Denali, and a 2022 Yukon AT4.

Renfro emphasized the importance of following leads when it comes to his work. He mentioned that he makes it a priority to follow up on any leads that come in. In fact, he shared that he has received calls from people in the Nashville area who claim to have spotted the corvette in that region.
The Lawrenceburg police are currently investigating the Nashville sightings and taking proactive measures to gather more information. They have mentioned that OnStar was able to track one of the vehicles for a certain period of time, although they suspect that the suspects were able to disable the tracking system.
