Student at University of Colorado in custody for double murder

According to officials, law enforcement took a student into custody on Monday in connection with a double homicide at the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs.

Nicholas Jordan, a 25-year-old suspect, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of two victims who were discovered fatally shot in a dorm room on Friday, as reported by the Colorado Springs police. On Monday, Jordan was apprehended in Colorado Springs without any resistance after being located inside a vehicle.

According to a spokesperson from the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs, Jordan, hailing from Detroit, is currently a student at the university.

According to a police statement, the shootings seemed to be a “specific incident involving individuals who were familiar with each other, rather than a random assault on the school or other students.”

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, the individuals who tragically lost their lives in this incident have been identified as Celie Rain Montgomery, a 26-year-old resident of Pueblo, Colorado, and Samuel Knopp, a 24-year-old resident of Parker, Colorado.

According to the police, Knopp was enrolled as a student at the school, whereas Montgomery was not currently registered.

According to student Gibson Marable, Knopp was known as an inspiring individual and regarded as the most talented musician on campus.

“We are devastated by the heartbreaking loss of two lives,” expressed university Chancellor Jennifer Sobanet during a press conference. She further added, “The victims of this senseless act of violence are in our thoughts, and my heart goes out to them.”
