Stolen excavator found in Mississippi after being taken from Alabama

Agents from the Mississippi Agriculture and Livestock Theft Bureau (MALTB) recovered a stolen excavator in Pearl River County on May 14, 2024.

Investigators revealed that the 2017 John Deere 50G excavator, valued at $50,000, was stolen in Alabama in 2021.

Agents reported receiving a tip that directed them to Pearl River County, Mississippi, where they successfully recovered the excavator.

Director Dean Barnard urged anyone with information on stolen agricultural equipment to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation. He emphasized the importance of contacting local law enforcement, Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS, or the MALTB tip line at 1-800-678-2660. Director Barnard reassured callers that their identities would remain anonymous.
