According to Antonetti, Bieber made the decision to undergo surgery on Friday after returning to Cleveland for an examination.
Bieber’s contract with the Guardians is coming to an end, and he is currently in his final year with the team. Under the leadership of first-year manager Stephen Vogt, the Guardians have had a strong start to the season, with a record of 6-2 heading into Saturday’s game against Minnesota.
Dr. Keith Meister will be performing Bieber’s surgery in Dallas in the near future, according to Antonetti.
Justin Bieber, at the age of 28, has a remarkable record as a starting pitcher for Cleveland. In his career, he has achieved a win-loss record of 62-32 and an impressive ERA of 3.22 in 134 starts. Notably, he even topped the charts in the 2020 season, leading the majors in wins, ERA, and strikeouts despite the challenges posed by the pandemic.
Cleveland’s pitching staff has been plagued by injuries, with Bieber being the latest addition to the list. Trevor Stephan, a reliever, underwent Tommy John surgery recently, while Gavin Williams has been dealing with elbow soreness since spring training. Fortunately, Williams is expected to recover soon.
