Secret Service reports driver’s death following crash into White House complex gate

According to the U.S. Secret Service, a driver was discovered deceased after crashing into an outer perimeter gate of the White House complex on Saturday night.

According to Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi, the incident took place around 10:30 p.m. However, he reassured the public that the White House was not at risk and there are no ongoing safety concerns.

In an early Sunday statement, officials mentioned that they had implemented security protocols while officers cleared the vehicle and tried to provide assistance to the deceased driver.

The Metropolitan Police Department of Washington has identified the driver involved in the incident as an adult male. According to a post on X, the vehicle crashed into a security barrier surrounding the complex. Law enforcement officials are currently investigating the incident solely as a traffic crash.

The Secret Service has confirmed that it will continue its investigation into the incident, while the Washington police will handle the investigation into the fatal aspect of the crash.
