Police officer accused of killing 20-year-old during chase surrenders to authorities

A grand jury indicted a former Woodstock police officer on charges of involuntary manslaughter after he turned himself in to the police. The officer is accused of killing a 20-year-old man during a police pursuit.

Grant Shaw voluntarily surrendered himself to authorities at approximately 10 a.m. on Monday, as indicated by jail records.

In October 2023, Shaw allegedly took the life of Emmanuel Millard, a 20-year-old individual.

Millard fled when Woodstock police attempted to apprehend him during a routine traffic stop, as stated in the indictment.

Millard proceeded to lead officers on a chase into Cobb County.

The police used their cruisers to perform a PIT maneuver and successfully blocked Millard in.

Andrew Lampros, the family’s attorney, watched the police body cam video.

“The Woodstock Police Department acknowledges the significance of every individual’s life and is committed to ensuring transparency throughout this ongoing investigation.”

The shooting was investigated by agents from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, who refrained from providing any comments on the indictment issued on Friday.

According to Woodstock police, Shaw voluntarily left the department in October 2023.
