Police apprehend a woman suspected of spray painting over fifty cars in an Indianapolis parking garage

A woman suspected of vandalizing over 50 vehicles in a downtown parking garage has been apprehended by Indiana State Police. The arrest took place after law enforcement officers spotted her near the statehouse.

Denise Honorio, a 34-year-old resident of Indianapolis, was apprehended on Wednesday afternoon by an Indiana State Capitol Police officer. It is worth noting that Honorio was seen wearing the exact same outfit that she was photographed in during the parking garage vandalism incident that occurred on February 2nd.

In court documents, it was revealed that when the Capitol police officer presented Honorio with a surveillance photograph of the vandal suspect, Honorio confidently stated that the woman in the photograph was none other than herself.

The robbery is currently under investigation by the Indiana University Police Department, according to state police.

Court documents reveal that Honorio claims to have relocated to Indianapolis approximately a year ago after residing in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Honorio continued to maintain her innocence and denied any involvement in vandalizing the vehicles in the parking lot, despite her previous statements to the police identifying herself in the surveillance footage.

Honorio, despite being found in possession of the victim’s purse and driver’s license, vehemently denied committing the robbery.

Less than three hours after the parking garage vandalism, the police reported a robbery taking place.

Honorio is currently facing preliminary charges for several serious offenses. These include robbery, which is categorized as a Level 3 felony. Additionally, he is charged with battery causing moderate injury, a Level 6 felony, as well as vandalism amounting to over $50,000, also classified as a Level 6 felony.

Indiana State Police Captain Bob Burke commended Officer Robert Johnson for his actions and dedication to his patrol efforts.

The suspect’s keen observation and identification skills not only aided in locating the individual believed to be responsible for the vandalism, but also helped establish connections to other serious crimes committed by the same suspect, ultimately bringing justice to the victims. This investigation serves as a prime example of the remarkable collaboration between various police agencies in central Indiana, and we are grateful for the strong partnerships that facilitated its success.
