Players Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs ask for prayers when a shooting breaks out during the Kansas City Super Bowl parade

Chaos broke out at the Super Bowl parade of the Kansas City Chiefs on Wednesday afternoon when a shooting occurred near the victory rally, resulting in the death of at least one person and injuries to 22 others, according to the police.

Patrick Mahomes, who had just been celebrating Kansas City’s consecutive Super Bowl victories with his teammates, took to X to share a message within an hour of the Kansas City Police confirming that two armed suspects had been apprehended. The incident occurred near the Union Station garage at approximately 2 p.m. local time, leaving multiple people injured.

Mahomes expressed his support for Kansas City by stating, “Praying for Kansas City.”

 

“I’m absolutely devastated by this tragedy,” expressed star tight end Travis Kelce.

Chiefs linebacker Drue Tranquill, who joined me at the parade, expressed his outrage on social media, describing the shooting as a “heinous act.”

In a heartfelt message shared on X, the fifth-year player expressed his deep condolences and called upon others to join him in prayer for all the victims affected by this horrendous act.

As the news unfolded, social media platforms were flooded with an influx of messages.

 

According to James Palmer from the NFL Network, who was reporting live from Kansas City for the parade, their crew was instructed to take cover under the stage when the shooting incident occurred.

In a social media post, he expressed his gratitude for the remarkable efforts of law enforcement, stating that their crew is safe.

During a press conference on Wednesday evening, Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves announced that three individuals had been detained.
