The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office and state troopers were called to three separate shootings during the annual Jeep Weekend on the Bolivar Peninsula.
Three victims were involved in the incident, and law enforcement authorities have apprehended one suspect.
One person died among the victims, but it is unclear whether they passed away at the scene or at a later time.
Major Ray Nolen of the GCSO reported that a second victim sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was airlifted in critical condition.
Law enforcement and EMS provided treatment to another victim who was grazed on the head.
One suspect was arrested by law enforcement after a brief pursuit, but it remains uncertain if there were any other individuals involved in the other shootings.
The event has witnessed numerous arrests throughout the years, with over 200 individuals being arrested in 2023 alone. As of 11:30 p.m. on Saturday night, a total of 189 arrests have been made during this weekend.
GCSO Captain Jack Walker stated that 14 individuals were already facing more than 20 charges before the weekend began.
Over 230 individuals were arrested and 40 were hospitalized during Jeep Weekend in Galveston County.
