Minneapolis police officer among 3 killed in unexpected gunfire incident

While on his way to a recovery meeting in the area, Cory Jones recalls hearing multiple gunshots, as he informed NBC affiliate KARE of Minneapolis.

According to Jones, a witness from South Minneapolis, there was an unconscious police officer lying in the street, while another individual was near a car.

At approximately 6:45 p.m., the police department made a social media post on X, stating that two officers had sustained injuries and that additional individuals were also hurt during an ongoing incident in the Whittier neighborhood.

Senator Amy Klobuchar, a Democrat from Minnesota, expressed her deep sorrow upon hearing the news of the Minneapolis Police Department officer who was killed in the line of duty and another officer who is critically injured. She emphasized the importance of their work in ensuring the safety of the community.

According to Walz, it is not acceptable for news conferences regarding injured officers and funerals to become a regular occurrence.
