Marlon Wayans is full of praise for J.Cole following his apology for releasing a diss track aimed at Kendrick Lamar.
During his recent performance at Dreamville Fest, J.Cole openly expressed remorse for his diss track aimed at fellow rapper on his latest album, titled “Might Delete Later.” Specifically, he referred to the song “7 Minute Drill,” which seemed to be a response to Lamar’s lyrics on “Like That.” In front of the audience, Cole candidly admitted, “I’m not going to lie to you all, the past two days have been terrible. I almost had a relapse.” He went on to describe the track as “the lamest thing I’ve ever done in my entire life,” acknowledging that it contradicted his values and disrupted his inner peace.
Cole expressed his admiration for Lamar, hailing him as one of the music industry’s finest. He made it clear that he holds the Compton rapper in high regard. Cole even offered Lamar the opportunity to address any grievances caused, showing his willingness to face the consequences. Despite receiving some backlash, Cole’s actions were praised by many for his accountability and maturity. Actor and comedian Marlon Wayans took to social media to applaud Cole, stating, “I think that’s dope.”
“This was an epic moment for me as a black man in this industry! I greatly appreciate and respect @realcoleworld for this. Hip hop needs this, black people need this, and all people need this. It’s about accountability, apologies, and consequences.”
Dj Akademiks criticizes J. Cole for apologizing to Kendrick Lamar and claims that Cole lacks passion for music.
Madonna expressed her admiration for Kendrick Lamar and her desire to collaborate with him. She stated, “I worship Kendrick Lamar. He’s the future of music and art.” Madonna’s praise for the rapper came during an interview where she discussed the impact of his music and expressed her interest in working together. She recognized his talent and contribution to the industry, highlighting his ability to push boundaries and create innovative music. Madonna’s statement reflects her respect for Lamar’s artistry and her eagerness to collaborate with him in the future.
DJ Akademiks expressed his disappointment online, joining others who were not in favor of Cole’s decision to not continue his alleged rap feud with Lamar.
“J Cole shocked fans when he publicly apologized to Kendrick Lamar. This unexpected turn of events has left many people in the rap community confused and outraged. Akademiks, a well-known commentator, expressed his disbelief by stating, “WTF is going on in rap? N***a violated you, you retaliated, and now you’re apologizing? Kendrick might be right, there’s no big 3, it’s just BIG HIM. WTF.” He further added, “If Drake were to apologize to Kendrick Lamar, I’m done with rap. I’ll switch to covering and listening to Country Music. Even playing First Person Shooter games won’t have the same impact after such a damn apology…”
J. Cole has recently decided to remove “7 Minute Drill” from streaming services, although the track is still available as of Monday afternoon. Regardless of personal opinions, this move signifies Cole’s intention to make changes to his music availability.
