In a remarkable turn of events, a resident of Arkansas experienced a miracle that they had doubted would ever come true. However, against all odds, it did happen.
Janesha Coleman had been eagerly anticipating a heart transplant for years. When a generous donor came forward, she described it as a truly transformative experience.
At the age of 34, Coleman received a diagnosis of congestive heart failure following the birth of her second child in 2019.
Tragically, her health deteriorated further during her subsequent pregnancy in 2022.
Coleman explained that they discovered the left side of her heart was not functioning properly, which required her to undergo a procedure to have an impella device implanted. This device greatly improved her ability to breathe.
After her heart stopped for a second time, she was admitted to Baptist Health in November of 2023 and placed on a waiting list for a heart transplant.
According to ARORA officials, the national organ waiting list for a heart transplant currently has over 3,300 individuals listed.
Coleman expressed that one can never predict the future or anticipate when their time will come.
Hope came to Coleman sooner than she had anticipated.
In an interview with KARK 4 News, Coleman shared her experiences eight weeks after undergoing surgery. She revealed that she now has to adjust to a new reality due to the ongoing flu season.
“I wear a mask and gloves regularly because my immune system is weak,” she explained.
Coleman reflects on the stitches on her chest from her transplant, which serve as a poignant reminder of her warrior spirit. The driving force behind her relentless fight was her role as a single mother, caring for three children.
During the most challenging period of her life, she drew strength from her faith, which sustained her.
Coleman expressed her heartfelt prayers for the well-being of her loved ones. She fervently hoped that they would remain safe and united, even in the face of adversity.
She expressed her gratitude to the organ donor, her new guardian angel, for the gift of a second chance at life.
Coleman expressed gratitude for the person who donated their heart, acknowledging that they are now the recipient.
She expressed gratitude for her faith and emphasized the importance of cherishing every breath, recognizing the preciousness of life and not taking her health for granted.
“It conjures up a whirlwind of emotions because I was gifted with a new heart,” Coleman expressed. “Undergoing an open-heart transplant is nothing short of a miracle, and I truly believe it is a testament to the divine intervention of God.”
Coleman, who underwent a transplant, shared that she must take a total of 18 medications. This is a crucial aspect of her life as it enables her to witness the growth of her children.
“I pray that my heart doesn’t reject, and I pray that I can continue to be present. I hope that God continues to bless me,” she expressed.
Algerita Coleman, the mother of the girl, shares in her daughter’s joy now that she is no longer experiencing any pain.
She expressed how heavy the weakness felt when she couldn’t do anything for her in that situation. She admired the determination and drive of the young mother who wanted her kids to have their mother in their lives and do better. According to her, the parenting skills of the young mother outweighed her own.
Coleman doesn’t mind that her time with loved ones may look different for a while.
She mentioned that whenever her family visits, they also wear masks.
Coleman often finds solace in her faith when she feels lost or uncertain.
“I believe that God places us in challenging situations to test our strength and our faith in Him,” she explained. “While I have always had a strong connection with God, this particular experience has deepened that connection even further.”
She is embracing her new life with her new heart.
“I feel incredibly fortunate to have been given a second chance at life,” Coleman expressed gratefully.
