A tragic incident occurred in Truckee, California, as a single-engine plane crashed during its landing attempt, resulting in the loss of two lives. This devastating event was confirmed by local airport and law enforcement authorities.
On Saturday afternoon, FlightAware, an aircraft tracker, recorded the departure of the Daher TBM 900 from Denver, Colorado.
The plane went down around 6:38 p.m. near the intersection of Glenshire Drive and Olympic Blvd., which is located northwest of the Truckee Tahoe Airport, according to a statement from the police.
The police have confirmed that there is currently no danger to any buildings and no roads have been closed. They have also stated that there will be a significant presence of emergency personnel in the area for an extended period of time.
Investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have arrived at the crash site on Sunday morning to start documenting the incident, as stated by the NTSB.
According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the wreckage will be recovered and taken to a secure facility for further evaluation. The NTSB anticipates releasing a preliminary report on the accident within 30 days.
The agency stated that its investigation would focus on three main areas: the pilot, the aircraft, and the operating environment.
