East Texans are shocked by rising propane prices

As the warm weather approaches East Texas, residents are getting ready to fire up their grills. However, they are also noticing the high prices of propane.

Jason Blakeney, owner of Blakeney Hardware, expressed his astonishment as he remarked, “It’s truly breathtaking to witness the price nearly doubling.”

According to Blakeney, propane prices saw a significant increase approximately eighteen months ago as a result of a major tank shortage.

Blakeney mentioned that the situation has stabilized and there is no longer a shortage of tanks.

Propane customers are finding it hard to believe the current prices.

Edward Bauman, a resident of Tyler, expressed his frustration with the rising prices as a disabled veteran. He emphasized that the current higher prices are simply astronomical and pose a significant financial burden for him.

Blakeney emphasizes that it is important for people to understand that these rates are determined and set by the suppliers themselves.

According to Blakeney, the cost of a new bottle with propane has increased to 70 dollars from its previous price of 43 dollars. He expresses frustration, acknowledging that the current price is higher but they are compelled to sell it at that rate.

According to his providers, they do not anticipate a decrease in rates in the near future.

Blakeney questioned why there hasn’t been a price drop despite the surplus of supply and relatively unchanged demand.

Customers feel frustrated whenever they are required to pick up a new tank or refill it.

Bauman expressed his concern about the increasing prices and the impact it has on people living on fixed incomes such as social security. He emphasized how challenging it is for them to cope with the rising costs, highlighting the negative effects it has on their financial well-being.
