Donald Trump Faces the Possibility of Another Defamation Trial Following His Attack on E. Jean Carroll

Calls for E. Jean Carroll to sue Donald Trump for defamation for a third time have been sparked by his latest attack on the columnist.

In January, a court ordered the former president to pay Carroll $83.3 million as a result of his comments following her public accusation of rape in a luxury department store dressing room in New York City. This ruling came after a previous jury awarded Carroll $5 million in May of the previous year, holding Trump accountable for sexual assault and defamation.

In order to secure the award for the defamation cases brought by Carroll, Trump recently posted a $92-million bond. This action ensures that Carroll will receive the compensation if the case withstands any appeals.

On Saturday, Trump took to Truth Social to launch a new attack on Carrol.

Trump expressed frustration in a social media post, questioning the number of corrupt and biased judges within the New York courts who he believes are protecting President Joe Biden. He wondered when someone would intervene to address this issue.

“I found myself in a situation where I had to face New York Federal Judge, Lewis Kaplan, alongside a woman I had never met before. She had filed a lawsuit against me for ‘defamation,’ even though she had no connection to me whatsoever. Interestingly, she couldn’t even provide specific details about when the alleged ‘incident’ occurred. It was clear that she had no knowledge about it whatsoever.”

After Trump made his remarks, social media users took to their platforms, urging Carroll to file a third lawsuit against him.

Author Majid M. Padellan expressed his opinion on the ongoing defamation by Trump against E. Jean Carroll. Padellan suggested that Carroll should continue to sue Trump until she gains ownership of all his assets. He emphasized his point by stating “EVERYTHING.”

In a recent podcast episode, Keith Olbermann expressed his strong disapproval of President Trump’s actions, stating that he believes Trump has once again defamed E. Jean Carroll, a well-known figure.

Singer-songwriter Ricky Davila expressed his desire for Carroll to take legal action against Trump every time he defames her, as he did once again today.

Carroll’s lawyer has previously stated that there is a possibility of her client filing another defamation lawsuit against Trump.

“The statute of limitations for defamation typically ranges from one to three years,” stated Roberta Kaplan during a recent discussion. “Following the previous jury verdict, we have been diligently monitoring every statement made by Donald Trump pertaining to our client.”

Legal experts have previously stated to Newsweek that there is no restriction on the number of times Carroll can file a defamation lawsuit against Trump.

According to Barbara McQuade, a former United States attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan, Trump’s repeated denial of sexually assaulting E. Jean Carroll puts him at risk of facing additional defamation claims. McQuade emphasizes that a jury has already found Trump guilty of the assault, stating, “Every time he denies it, he exposes himself to another claim for defamation.”
