Couple from Lowcountry win $100K from lottery ticket

A couple from the Lowcountry of Summerville, South Carolina, continues to pursue their dreams of winning the lottery jackpot, undeterred by their recent $100,000 win.

The woman shared with state lottery officials her exhilarating wake-up call. “In the most casual manner, my husband informed me that we had won $100,000,” she recalled. Bursting with disbelief, she exclaimed, “What?”

While the wife was sound asleep, her husband took it upon himself to check their Powerball ticket for the December 2 drawing. Much to his surprise, the quick pick they had purchased at Sonny’s Citgo on Old Trolley Road turned out to be a winner.

According to lottery officials, the ticket managed to match all the numbers drawn, except for one. They emphasized that the chances of such an occurrence are incredibly slim, almost one in a million.

“I’m still in disbelief,” the wife shared with officials from the South Carolina Education Lottery.

But the couple continues to chase after that elusive lottery jackpot, faithfully participating in the game week after week.

Sonny’s Citgo in Summerville made a commission of $1,000 for selling the winning ticket.
