According to a report by KTLA, the LAPD stated that Wactor witnessed three individuals stealing the catalytic converter from his vehicle. When he confronted them, they swiftly turned around and shot him.
Around 3:25 a.m. local time, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) received a radio call regarding an assault with a deadly weapon and shooting. Promptly, officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Hope Street in Los Angeles. Once they arrived at the scene, they found John William Wactor, the victim, who appeared to have sustained a gunshot wound, as stated in the police news release.
