A “Kansas Gun Rights Preservation Act” bill has been introduced in the state legislature

A Kansas House representative is proposing a new law to safeguard the gun rights of the state’s citizens from federal interference.

House Bill 2803 made its debut in the Kansas Legislature when Representative Michael Houser introduced it on Thursday, Feb. 15. The primary objective of this bill is to establish the Kansas Gun Rights Preservation Act, which seeks to prevent the utilization of state resources in enforcing federal gun control measures on law-abiding citizens.

If the bill passes as it is, it will prohibit state agencies, political subdivisions, and their employees from assisting in the implementation of any federal regulation or law concerning firearms, firearm accessories, or ammunition against law-abiding citizens. Additionally, it will forbid the use of state funds or resources to support federal agencies or agents involved in such enforcement actions.

Violators of the Kansas Gun Rights Preservation Act could face a hefty civil penalty of $50,000 for each instance of breaking the law. The legislation defines a “law-abiding citizen” as someone who is not prohibited by state law from possessing a firearm.
