Pierce Brosnan, in his belief, thinks that one of his former co-stars possesses the qualities to become an exceptional James Bond.
Pierce Brosnan, the renowned actor who portrayed the iconic secret agent in four films, recently acknowledged the talent of fellow Irish actor Cillian Murphy and expressed his approval of the rumors surrounding Aaron Taylor-Johnson potentially taking on the role.
During a recent appearance on “The Ray D’Arcy Show” on RTE Radio 1, Brosnan expressed his belief that the man possesses the necessary skills, talent, and charm to portray Bond. He even pointed out the irony that the actor in question had appeared in one of the films he himself had made.
Pierce Brosnan shared that he and his late producing partner, Beau Marie St. Clair, established a production company called Irish DreamTime in the 1990s. They successfully produced movies like “The Thomas Crown Affair” and even gave Aaron Taylor-Johnson one of his early breakthrough roles in 2009.
Brosnan fondly reminisced about the early days of their career, recalling their collaboration in the movie “The Greatest.” He praised the late Muhammad Ali for his exceptional performance, stating that he truly embodied greatness in the film. In light of the news surrounding Ali’s potential role as James Bond, Brosnan expressed his admiration and respect for the legendary boxer-turned-actor.
Pierce Brosnan started his journey as James Bond with the highly praised film “GoldenEye” in 1995. However, his tenure as the iconic spy came to an end with a less well-received entry in 2002. Interestingly, Brosnan had actually been offered the role in the 1980s, but due to his commitment to the TV show “Remington Steele,” he had to pass at the time. Fortunately, he was given another opportunity later on.
“It came back ’round,” he expressed on the show, reflecting on his role in “GoldenEye.” “I suppose it was my destiny to portray this character. It’s a gift that continues to bring joy, and I take great pride in the work. At that time, it was quite a challenging period as it had remained inactive for a span of six years.”
Pierce Brosnan remembered questioning whether the world truly needed “another James Bond” when he took on the iconic role. However, the response from audiences was overwhelmingly positive, welcoming him with open arms. Similarly, Daniel Craig faced similar doubts before stepping into the shoes of Bond in 2006. Yet, as he prepares to bid farewell to the character in 2021, there is once again a heightened curiosity and anticipation for who will be the next actor to take on the role.
In response to the ongoing rumors about the future of the iconic character James Bond, potential candidate Idris Elba appears to be no longer in consideration. However, there is still a lot of speculation surrounding who will take on the role. Despite this uncertainty, Taylor-Johnson has shown readiness and a demeanor reminiscent of the suave and assertive nature of 007.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, he expressed his focus on the things he plans to showcase and discuss. He confidently stated, “I don’t feel the need to have my future predetermined. I believe that whatever is laid out for me, I can excel and surpass expectations.”
