Federal authorities will soon apprehend the driver of a stolen vehicle who was involved in a police pursuit from Nebraska into Kansas.
The Phillips County Sheriff’s Office was alerted by a report at 9:28 a.m. on Tuesday of a stolen vehicle being pursued in Phelps County, Nebraska. The vehicle was heading southbound on U.S. Highway 183.
The chase persisted as they made their way through Harlan County, Nebraska, and into Kansas.
Deputies from the PCSO successfully apprehended the stolen vehicle on U.S. Highway 183 at East Fox Road in Walnut after it ran out of gas. The suspect promptly surrendered without any resistance. It is worth mentioning that the vehicle had been reported stolen in Colorado.
The suspect identified in the case is a 34-year-old man.
The suspect is currently being held at the Phillips County Jail on suspicion of multiple charges, including possession of stolen property, reckless driving, speeding at an alarming 122 mph in a 65 mph zone, driving without a valid driver’s license, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance.
The man’s identity has been confirmed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. A detainer has been sent by ICE to hold him.
