In her documentary, J.Lo reflected on her childhood in the Bronx, New York. Growing up with two siblings, she revealed that she felt a lack of love from her parents, Guadalupe Rodriguez and David Lopez, who divorced in the ’90s. J.Lo expressed, “When I was growing up, I constantly sought someone to make me feel loved. Being neither the oldest nor the youngest, I was the middle child, and I often felt a little lost in the midst of it all.”

J.Lo, who is 54 years old, has two sisters named Leslie, who is 56 years old, and Lynda, who is 52 years old. Speaking about their parents, who are not featured in the documentary, the singer and actress revealed that she never felt loved by either of them.

Reflecting on this, she shared, “My mom is a woman with a lot of complexities and burdens. She always emphasized the importance of independence and not relying on a man. She did whatever it took to survive, which made her resilient, but it also made her hardened. We experienced some tough times because of it.”

Jennifer Lopez and her mother had a disagreement about college, which led to a temporary separation between them. The singer decided not to enroll, despite her mother’s wishes, as she wanted to pursue a career in dance full-time. Jennifer recounted, “I didn’t want to go to college. I wanted to try dance full-time. So, she and I had a break. I started sleeping on the sofa in the dance studio. I was homeless, but I told her, ‘This is what I have to do.'”
