As storm systems advance towards the Gulf Coast and East Coast, a staggering 120 million Americans are at risk of facing large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes, according to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center.
The storms may potentially bring gusts of up to 70 miles per hour, along with hail the size of quarters.
On Monday, southern Texas is expected to experience record-breaking temperatures, leading to concerns about excessive heat. Heat advisories and warnings have been issued in these areas to ensure the safety of residents.
The number of fatalities rose to 21 individuals on Monday.
Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced at a news conference on Sunday evening that the extreme storms in Arkansas have claimed the lives of at least eight individuals.
Four individuals lost their lives in Kentucky, as Governor Andy Beshear officially stated on Monday morning. The casualties encompassed a 67-year-old woman in Mercer County, a 62-year-old woman in Hardin County, a 48-year-old woman in Hopkins County, and a 34-year-old man in Jefferson County, as disclosed by the governor.
As of Monday afternoon, Governor Beshear announced that a fifth individual was injured and is currently in critical condition, fighting for their life.
In Mayes County, Oklahoma, a tornado wreaked havoc in the northeast region, claiming the lives of at least two individuals.
Multiple tornados were reported throughout Texas, with one tearing through Cooke County on Saturday night. This particular tornado, located approximately 50 miles north of Dallas, resulted in the tragic loss of seven lives.
The sheriff has confirmed that the tragic incident claimed the lives of not only three other family members, but also two young children, aged two and five. The heartbreaking discovery was made in a home located near Valley View, a quiet rural community in close proximity to the Oklahoma border.
