Sean Kingston arrested in California following SWAT raids on his Florida residence, charged with fraud

Rapper Sean Kingston was taken into custody in California on fraud charges on Thursday, following a raid on his rented South Florida mansion earlier in the day. A SWAT team was involved in the operation and confiscated a significant amount of items from the property.

Kingston was apprehended by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office with ease on a Florida warrant in the vicinity of Fort Irwin, an Army base situated in the desert approximately 150 miles (240 kilometers) northeast of Los Angeles.

Earlier today, Broward detectives apprehended Janice Turner, his 61-year-old mother, during the search of the rapper’s expansive 14,000-square foot (1,300-square meter) residence in Southwest Ranches. This affluent Fort Lauderdale suburb is known for housing numerous celebrities and professional athletes, such as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill.

Broward County prosecutors have directed all inquiries to the sheriff’s office, which has chosen not to disclose specific charges due to an ongoing investigation. Following the raid, journalists stationed outside the residence witnessed authorities loading a van with items. The mansion was encircled by luxurious sports cars.

In a recent Instagram post, Kingston expressed his thoughts on negative energy, stating, “People love negative energy!” He reassured his followers that both he and his mother are doing well. Additionally, he mentioned that his legal team is currently handling the situation. However, the post has since been removed.

According to Robert Rosenblatt, the attorney representing the rapper and his mother, they are aware of some of the allegations being made against them.

In an email, Rosenblatt expressed confidence in a successful resolution for Shawn and his mother and stated that they are eager to address these matters in court.

According to records from the Florida Department of Corrections, Kingston is currently serving a two-year probation sentence for trafficking stolen property. Unfortunately, there is no additional information available about this particular conviction. As of now, he will remain in California until he is extradited to Florida.

According to federal court records, his mother committed bank fraud in 2006, stealing over $160,000. As a result, she served a prison sentence of almost 1.5 years. Currently, she is being held at the Broward jail with a bond set at $160,000.

The Jamaican-American rapper gained fame for his chart-topping single “Beautiful Girls” in 2007, along with other hits like “Take You There” and his collaboration with Justin Bieber on “Eenie Meenie.” However, in 2011, he faced a near-fatal accident while riding a personal watercraft. Kisean Anderson, known by his legal name Sean Kingston, hasn’t released any major label projects in over ten years.

According to an attorney who personally witnessed his mother’s arrest, the detentions can be attributed, at least in part, to a lawsuit he filed against Kingston in February. The attorney accuses Kingston of defrauding a Florida company that installed a massive 232-inch television in his home, which measures approximately 17 feet by 9.5 feet.

Attorney Dennis Card expressed astonishment at the extent to which celebrities can escape consequences for their actions. He emphasized that their ability to maintain a larger-than-life image, flaunting their wealth and projecting a family-oriented persona, often shields them from accountability. Card further noted that even though the public may perceive these individuals as caring for their loved ones, the reality behind the scenes could be vastly different.

Ver Ver Entertainment has filed a lawsuit claiming that Kingston reached out to the company in September expressing interest in buying and installing their television system, branded as Colossal TV, which is priced at $150,000.

According to reports, Kingston supposedly made a proposition to the owners, suggesting that if they were willing to reduce the down payment and extend credit to him and Bieber, they would be willing to promote their business through commercials.

According to the lawsuit, Kingston made a payment of $30,000 to the company in November for the installation of the TV. However, despite several promises, no commercials were aired and no additional payments were made.

The lawsuit alleges that Kingston and Bieber no longer work together, as Bieber recently ended his long-standing relationship with Kingston. Unfortunately, there is no current contact information available for Bieber.

According to Card, Justin Bieber is completely innocent and not involved in this matter. Card emphasized that Bieber had the unfortunate experience of working with Sean in the past, and Sean frequently mentions Bieber’s name.
