Joy Behar, a star on the talk show “The View,” has shared some advice for Jennifer Lopez on handling public relationships. Behar, who has personal experience with divorce, offered her insights amid rumors surrounding J.Lo’s marriage to Ben Affleck.
“We’re not here to gossip about anyone, but it’s hard to ignore the buzz surrounding our dear friend from the show,” Behar mentioned at the start of Friday’s live broadcast. She was referring to the speculations about Lopez and Affleck’s marriage possibly being on the rocks, as they haven’t been seen together in public for over a month. “People are talking, and that’s all I can say.”
During the discussion of the Hot Topic, Behar later pointed out that Lopez’s decision to monetize her second relationship with Affleck might not have been the wisest choice.
The 81-year-old advised against publicly proclaiming love and suggested keeping quiet when things go awry. She shared, “I don’t even tell [my second husband] Steve I love him in public. I don’t say it in private either, but still.” She cautioned about expressing love openly on platforms like Instagram and Facebook, only to face divorce and hear others say, “Oh, you see!?”
Behar’s comments follow Lopez’s decision to base her latest studio album, “This Is Me… Now,” and its accompanying narrative film, “This Is Me… Now: A Love Story,” on her rekindled romance with Affleck and their subsequent wedding in 2022.
Sunny Hostin, a legal expert, shared some advice for those who criticize the couple.
“They are deeply in love and it feels like the whole world is ablaze with their passion. And you know what? It’s a beautiful thing. I firmly believe that true love still exists, despite all the chaos around us,” expressed the panelist. “Instead of spreading negativity, let’s celebrate the love they share. And if you haven’t experienced it yourself, don’t let that diminish the importance of true love in this world.”
Ana Navarro compared Lopez to another well-known Hollywood celebrity who also had a history of relationship challenges. She described Lopez as the “Puerto Rican Liz Taylor” and suggested that she has a strong inclination towards marriage, love, being in a committed relationship, and the romantic aspects of life. Navarro even playfully remarked that Lopez’s love life is beneficial for the marriage industry.
Representatives for Lopez have been contacted by Entertainment Weekly for comment.
“The View” is broadcasted on weekdays at 11 a.m. Eastern Time on ABC.
