Kendrick Lamar Releases Second Diss Track Aimed at Drake, Titled ‘6:16 in LA’; Takes Shots at Drake’s ‘Toosie Slide’ and OVO Crew

Kendrick Lamar has once again targeted Drake with a follow-up diss track released only three days after his initial one, titled “Euphoria.” The latest song, “6:16 in LA,” cleverly mocks Drake’s signature style of introspective “timestamp songs,” such as “4 PM in Calabasas” from 2013 and “8 AM in Charlotte” from 2023.

In his latest track, released on Instagram on Friday at 9 a.m. ET, Lamar takes aim at Drake’s OVO crew. He questions whether they were actually working for him, calling them fake bullies and expressing his disdain for their behavior. Lamar also mentions one of Drake’s viral hits, suggesting that he can’t simply escape the consequences of his actions.

Drake’s crew, which is made up of hangers-on, is a recurring theme in the song. Lamar further emphasizes this by rapping, “If you were street smart, then you would have realized that your entourage is only out to hustle you. You have a hundred individuals on your payroll, but twenty of them see you as expendable.”

According to a representative for Jack Antonoff, the song was co-produced by Taylor Swift/Lana Del Rey/1975 collaborator Jack Antonoff and Lamar’s frequent producer Sounwave. Initially, the song was not available on streaming services, making it difficult to find official credits. This information was confirmed by Antonoff’s representative to Variety on Friday.

Lamar’s decision to release the two songs before Drake even had a chance to respond brings to mind the 2015 feud between Drake and Meek Mill. During that time, Drake swiftly retaliated with two diss tracks, namely “Charged Up” and “Back to Back,” which were released within a span of just four days.

In Lamar’s track “Euphoria,” he alludes to the beef and hints at his upcoming song by rapping, ” ‘Back to Back,’ I like that record / I’m going to return to that, for the record.”
