Federal Authorities Arrest Felon Who Led Police on High-Speed Chase from Maryland to DC and Seized Illegal Firearms

District resident Jordan Tyler Alexander admitted his guilt on Tuesday for weapons offenses. This came after the police discovered a Glock 27 in a stolen car that he crashed while engaging in a high-speed pursuit, reaching speeds of over 100 mph, last summer.

Court documents reveal that a Prince George’s County police officer was conducting patrol duty at 2 a.m. on August 9, 2023. During this time, the officer observed a white Honda Accord entering and quickly exiting a convenience store parking lot in Suitland.

The officer suspected that the vehicle drove away after noticing his marked police cruiser. When he ran the license plates, it was discovered that the Honda had been stolen on July 24, 2023 in Southeast DC.

The officer turned on his lights and sirens after Alexander ran a red light. In response, the Honda accelerated and a pursuit ensued. The chase ended when Alexander crashed into a guardrail on I-295 near the exit for Minnesota Avenue NE.

However, he still had more to accomplish.

According to prosecutors, Alexander made a daring escape by leaping out of the driver’s side door and sprinting down the interstate, narrowly avoiding oncoming cars. Another passenger in the Honda followed suit, fleeing from the highway and seeking refuge in a nearby grassy area.

He made a mistake in choosing the vehicle.

An off-duty law enforcement agent, still in uniform, was inside the car that Alexander tried to steal. This forced Alexander to continue his escape on foot along the highway.

After the officer got out of the vehicle, Alexander eventually surrendered and was taken into custody.

Investigators discovered a Glock 27, a 40 caliber handgun with an extended magazine, inside the crashed Honda. It was found on the driver’s side floorboard, alongside a cell phone. Additionally, a second Glock was found on the front passenger seat.

Alexander admitted his guilt in unlawfully possessing a firearm and ammunition, a crime punishable by imprisonment for over one year. Additionally, he is currently awaiting trial for charges of armed robbery and possessing illegal weapons in Prince George’s County.

The sentencing is still pending for him.
