“We must shift our attention towards achieving the necessary progress to support women and girls seeking refuge from the state of Arizona,” stated Newsom during an interview with MSNBC’s Jen Psaki on Sunday.
The ad campaign is set to launch on Monday in Alabama, a state known for having one of the strictest abortion bans in the country. In Alabama, the procedure is prohibited at all stages of pregnancy, without any exceptions for cases of rape and incest.
Newsom has previously made efforts to address the issue of abortion access, and these advertisements reflect his ongoing commitment to the cause.
Nearly two years ago, Newsom’s re-election campaign funded billboards in several states, including Texas, Indiana, Mississippi, Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Oklahoma. The purpose of these billboards was to raise awareness about California’s new abortion access website, abortion.ca.gov. This website serves as a valuable resource for individuals seeking abortions, providing information about the procedure, locating providers, and offering financial assistance.
