25-year-old man dies from seizure while in police custody at Manhattan courthouse

A tragic incident occurred in New York where a young man, aged 25, passed away due to a severe seizure just hours before his scheduled court appearance. This devastating news was confirmed by both the police and court records.

Leron Jones, a 25-year-old man, was found experiencing a seizure at approximately 6 a.m. on Friday. This incident took place at 100 Centre Street, specifically at the Manhattan Criminal Court and NYPD Manhattan Central Booking.

According to the police, Jones experienced cardiac arrest while awaiting medical assistance, and immediate CPR was performed.

Jones was taken by EMS to New York Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital, where officials pronounced him dead.

Jones, who resides in the Bronx, has been charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, along with three other related charges, as stated in court records. His court appearance is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Friday.

The police were unable to immediately disclose the details surrounding Jones’ arrest.

The NYPD’s Force Investigation Division is currently investigating the incident, according to police sources.

According to a source, the New York Attorney General’s Office of Special Investigation is also examining the death, as reported by the New York Daily News.
