Tragically, Ronny Garcia, a former Houston Astros prospect, lost his life in a traffic accident.

He was only 24 years old.

The Astros announced on social media that his death has been confirmed on Saturday.

The Houston Astros expressed their profound sadness over the loss of Ronny Garcia, a former prospect, in a heartfelt statement on X. Along with a touching photo of Garcia, the team extended their condolences to his loved ones during this difficult time.

According to Héctor Gómez, a reporter based in the Dominican Republic who covers Major League Baseball, Garcia tragically lost his life in a traffic accident.

Gómez revealed that Garcia’s father was also a victim of the crash.

According to Yahoo Sports, there was an accident on the Las Galeras-Samaná highway in Samaná, Dominican Republic, involving two motorcycles.

According to Yahoo Sports, Garcia became a part of the Astros’ organization in 2016 when he was just 16 years old. He started pitching in their system, playing in the Florida Complex League and Class A.

In recent years, he has played for several minor league teams in North Carolina, such as the Fayetteville Woodpeckers and the Asheville Tourists. He continued to showcase his skills and dedication to the sport, even as recently as last year.

“We are deeply saddened by the news of Ronny Garcia’s passing. Ronny was a beloved member of the Fayetteville community, known for his infectious smile that lit up the ballpark,” expressed the Woodpeckers on X.

“He possessed exceptional pitching skills and was highly regarded as a valuable member of our team. Our condolences and heartfelt sympathies go out to his family as they navigate through this challenging period.”
