21-Year-Old College Volleyball Player Mariam Creighton Fatally Shot in Nightclub Incident

Mariam Creighton, a talented volleyball player from Albany State University, met a tragic end in a nightclub shooting in Atlanta. She was a vibrant young woman, with her life cut short at the age of just 21.

According to the Atlanta Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 2:28 AM on Sunday. Officers were called to the Elleven45 establishment in response to reports of shots being fired.

The Atlanta Police Department stated that the initial investigation suggests that the shooting took place as a result of a physical altercation at the scene that later escalated into gunfire.

Creighton, a talented individual, proudly represented the ASU Golden Rams volleyball team. With only one semester remaining, she was on the brink of completing her biology degree at the HBCU.

ASU Golden Rams officials expressed their profound sadness over the loss of one of their student-athletes. In a statement, they conveyed their heartfelt condolences to Mari’s family, friends, and teammates, acknowledging the immense difficulties they are currently facing.

Creighton’s family stated that she was present at the club on Sunday to celebrate her niece’s birthday.

“It’s absolutely senseless,” expressed Tiffany, the sister of Creighton. “My sister was simply enjoying herself, and now our lives have been permanently changed.”

The Elleven45 club expressed its deep sorrow regarding the tragedy and will fully cooperate with the ongoing investigation.
