16-year-old suspect’s charges amended in shooting incident at Chiefs’ Super Bowl rally

The Office of the Juvenile Officer in Jackson County has modified the charges against a 16-year-old juvenile in relation to the shooting incident at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl rally. This decision was made after the office received new evidence.

According to the family court, the teenager has been arraigned for the Class B felony of unlawful use of a weapon. Additionally, he is being held on the Class E felony of resisting arrest.

According to a news release from the court’s office, a certification hearing is scheduled for April 30. During this hearing, the Family Court Administrative judge will review the evidence to determine whether he should be tried as an adult.

The Juvenile Detention Center is currently holding a second 16-year-old teen suspect who has been detained on charges related to possessing a firearm.

Two individuals, Dominic M. Miller, aged 18, from Kansas City, and Lyndell Mays, aged 23, from Raytown, are facing multiple charges, including second-degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon.

Miller and Mays were armed with firearms as they attended the parade and rally on Feb. 14, according to the charging documents.

According to court records, Mays engaged in a heated argument with another individual following the rally.
