A Gwinnett County woman was arrested after a call reporting a person being shot.
On Monday, around 11:30 p.m., the Duluth Police Department responded to a report of shots fired on Crest Village Drive.
Upon arrival, the officers were greeted by the caller, who informed them that her closest companion, Lizbeth Bolteada-Rebollar, had suffered a gunshot wound.
According to reports, Bolteada-Rebollar reportedly opened the vehicle’s door and instructed the caller to “stay away from me.”
Duluth officers made a discovery that Bolteada-Rebollar was not a victim of a gunshot but was actually armed. It was revealed that a semi-automatic handgun was found in the center console, according to authorities.
Bolteada-Rebollar opened the car door and declared that she was armed. However, she reassured them that she had no intention of shooting.
According to authorities, Bolteada-Rebollar informed the police that her intention was to distance the caller from her car and her house. Duluth officers discovered that the suspect and the caller engaged in a physical altercation while spending time together and consuming alcohol.
The suspect initially informed the officers that she had fired the gun into the air. However, she later changed her statement and claimed that they were involved in a physical altercation on the ground before she discharged the firearm.
