Two Buffalo restaurants were ‘closed till further notice’ following the death of their co-owner

Forty Thieves Kitchen & Bar and Doc Sullivan’s Restaurant have temporarily closed their doors following the tragic passing of co-owner Tommy Cowan.

Both Buffalo staples took to Instagram to announce the news on Tuesday.

Doc Sullivan’s shared a heart-wrenching announcement on its Instagram story.

In January, 7 News Anchor Jeff Russo had a conversation with Cowan and his business partner, Brian Scanlon, at Forty Thieves in the Elmwood Village prior to the Bills game in Miami. The kitchen and bar have consistently supported “Bills Backers at the Beach” in Fort Lauderdale.

Doc Sullivan’s in South Buffalo has long been a favorite destination for wing enthusiasts in Buffalo. It has even earned a coveted spot on the Buffalo Wing Trail list.

Cowan also played a role in the ownership team of Patrick’s Rooftop at 500 Pearl.
