Trump’s Supreme Court immunity claims make me wish that Americans were immune to con artists

During Thursday’s proceedings, the attorney representing former President Donald Trump made a fervent plea to the nine justices of the U.S. Supreme Court. Desperate to secure absolute presidential immunity for his client, he implored the court with the utmost determination. In Trump’s characteristic style, he would often liken such pleas to that of a dog’s.

The reason behind the desire for immunity is that Trump has faced almost twice as many criminal indictments as there are stars on the American flag. The fact that the Supreme Court needs to assess whether a president can be exempt from the law is a consequence of a significant portion of the American population being influenced by a manipulative individual. I am referring to Trump, in case there was any confusion, who consistently engages in criminal behavior.

No other president has ever needed to make a case for complete presidential immunity due to being immersed in such a multitude of indictments and court cases.

The system has worked effectively for every president in the history of this country, including Richard Nixon. However, we are expected to believe that Trump, for some unknown reason, is facing such persecution that the Supreme Court needs to intervene to safeguard him?

Trump’s desire for absolute immunity is wildly self-serving

It is quite disheartening that during Thursday’s oral arguments, one of the justices didn’t take a stand and say, “Alright, this is ridiculous. You all need to put an end to it!” It’s truly absurd that Americans had to hear Trump’s lawyer actually argue that a president giving orders to the military to assassinate a political opponent “could potentially be considered an official act” deserving of immunity. It’s just plain crazy.

While Trump was sitting in the defendant’s chair in a Manhattan courtroom, a man named David Pecker, the former publisher of the National Enquirer, testified about burying stories that could have potentially harmed Trump’s chances in the 2016 presidential election. This eccentric situation was unfolding in the midst of it all.

Pecker explained that the intention behind the “catch-and-kill” agreement, which aimed to conceal allegations of an affair between Trump and Playboy model Karen McDougal, was to prevent any potential embarrassment to Mr. Trump or harm to his campaign.

I can’t help but feel embarrassed on behalf of everyone involved.

A federal judge, on Thursday, upheld the verdict and the $83 million award against Trump in writer E. Jean Carrollโ€™s defamation case, denying the former president’s motion for a new trial. This decision adds another layer of complexity to an already mind-boggling situation.

The ex-president who cried ‘ABSOLUTE IMMUNITY!’

People who are seeking “absolute immunity” typically find themselves in significant legal trouble, and this holds true for Trump’s situation. When ordinary individuals observe the numerous legal developments related to Trump that occurred within a single day, it’s natural for them to wonder how we arrived at this point.

We find ourselves in this predicament, where esteemed justices on the Supreme Court are deliberating whether a president can engage in a coup, due to a simple reason: insufficient immunity among Americans against a manipulator like Donald Trump.

Transparently grifty email scams continue to be effective for the same reason.

Trump is able to generate significant amounts of money by sending out emails that are clearly focused on obtaining funds.

People often fall victim to online scams perpetrated by workers from overseas crime syndicates and end up losing their life savings. The allure of connecting with someone online can blind individuals to the potential risks and deception that exist in the digital world.

The Republican Party transformed into an extortion racket with just one letter from Trump.

Trump is suddenly facing consequences and, well, he doesn’t like that

Throughout his life, Trump maneuvered and dodged, leaving a trail of unpaid contractors and taking advantage of bankruptcy laws to escape accountability.

He assumed the role of president and ultimately departed from office as the initial president in American history to reject the outcome of a democratic and equitable election. He fueled his supporters with falsehoods and observed as they launched an assault on the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to disrupt the peaceful transition of authority.

Does it make sense? Of course not.

Oval Office as ‘the seat of criminal activity’? Trump says, ‘Yes, please!’

During Thursdayโ€™s hearing, Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson expressed her concern regarding the potential lack of disincentive for the most powerful person in the world to engage in criminal activity while in office. She questioned the consequences of allowing the Oval Office to become a hub of criminal behavior without any potential penalty.

Well, the answer to that question is quite simple – none!

And that is precisely what Trump desires. He seeks complete immunity to either evade or postpone the charges he is currently facing, enabling him to pursue another presidential election. Moreover, if he were to win, he aims to secure absolute immunity to retaliate against those whom he believes have treated him unfairly.

This situation is absolutely absurd. It’s nothing more than a scam. Sadly, those who haven’t realized this are unknowingly contributing to the issue.

No president, including Trump or any other individual, should be granted complete immunity.

Americans, however, must swiftly build up resistance to the crafty deception of con artists. It is crucial that we do so, particularly to prevent the scenario of being governed by an unhinged monarch.
