Tragic Loss: Former Los Angeles Lakers point guard Darius Morris passes away at the young age of 33.
The team expressed their deep sadness over the loss of Darius Morris in a heartfelt post on X Saturday. Alongside the message, they shared a poignant picture of the former player.
Morris’ family shared the news of his death with TMZ on Saturday.
“It is with deep sorrow that we inform you of the heartbreaking loss of our beloved son, Darius Aaron Morris. As our family navigates through this difficult period of transition, we kindly request that you honor our privacy and extend your compassion and understanding,” expressed the statement.
TMZ reported that the body of the deceased individual was discovered in the Los Angeles area. No cause of death has been disclosed by the Lakers or the family.
Morris, a remarkable player, made a name for himself at the University of Michigan. His talent and skills led him to become a second-round pick for the Lakers in the 2011 draft. Throughout his career, he had the opportunity to showcase his abilities while playing for several teams, including the Los Angeles Clippers, the Brooklyn Nets, and the Philadelphia 76ers.
According to ESPN, Morris played professionally in China and France, and his most recent season was in 2019-20.
