Tennessee State Department proposes anti-trafficking strategy

The Tennessee State Department has announced the launch of a new program aimed at addressing the issue of human trafficking.

Tennessee Businesses Against Trafficking is an important initiative that seeks to educate businesses throughout the state about how to identify potential cases of human trafficking.

Last year, legislation was passed to establish a program that aims to provide training to businesses on how to identify such cases.

Secretary of State Tre Hargett provided an example to illustrate what the program will teach.

According to him, if someone appears to have difficulty making eye contact and gives off an uneasy vibe, it might be a potential sign. In the hospitality industry, for instance, individuals with little to no belongings upon checking into a hotel could be a cause for concern. However, there are multiple indicators to watch out for, and it’s crucial to equip people with effective training on how to recognize and respond to these situations.

Businesses that are interested in participating in the program can easily sign up on the ย Tennessee Secretary of Stateโ€™s website.
