Study Demonstrates New Supplement’s Ability to Reverse Aging in Dogs

Animal Biosciences, Inc., an animal health company, has recently introduced a groundbreaking supplement called “LeapYears” that has been proven to effectively reverse the aging process in dogs. This remarkable discovery was made through a comprehensive clinical study.

The market for pet supplements is experiencing a higher demand than anticipated. In 2023, the global pet supplement market was valued at approximately $1.3 billion to $2.5 billion, and it is projected to grow at a rate of over 5 percent each year.

Animal Biosciences, Inc. made a groundbreaking announcement on Thursday in a press release, stating that they have discovered clinical evidence demonstrating the ability to reverse age-related decline in dogs. According to the release, this is the first study to showcase such a remarkable finding.

How does “LeapYears” work?

According to the study, the soft chew supplement has been found to “significantly improve owner-assessed cognitive function and may have broader effects on frailty, activity, and happiness as reported by owners.”

The study has been published on a preprint server called BioRxiv, which houses early versions of works that have not yet undergone peer-review. Animal Biosciences informed Newsweek via email that the study has been submitted to Scientific Reports for peer review.

The supplement combines NAD+ precursor and senolytic properties.

According to Dr. Ginny Rentko, the chief veterinary medical officer at Animal Biosciences, Inc., who collaborated with Sinclair on the study, the supplement operates at the cellular level to improve your dog’s health. It achieves this by boosting the production of NAD+ and eliminating damaged cells. Dr. Rentko further explains that senescent cells tend to consume higher quantities of NAD+, leading to a depletion of cellular reserves.

LeapYears is a unique dog supplement that facilitates the natural elimination of dysfunctional cells, making space for healthier cells to effectively utilize NAD+. This innovative formula specifically focuses on removing aged and damaged cells, assisting dogs in aging more gracefully.

According to the press release, Dr. David A. Sinclair, a Professor of Genetics at Harvard Medical School and co-founder of Animal Biosciences, expressed his pride in the teams at NCSU and Animal Biosciences. After years of collaborative research and a clinical trial, they have successfully developed the first supplement that has been proven to reverse aging in dogs.

According to Rentko, the supplement helps maintain a dog’s brain function, resulting in improved mental sharpness, alertness, and engagement, especially in older dogs. Rentko also mentioned that dogs have demonstrated increased focus and participation in family activities.

Seniors or puppies; who benefits?

According to Rentko, “LeapYears” can be utilized for both treating older dogs and as a preventive measure in younger dogs.

Cellular aging plays a significant role in the development of various diseases in older dogs. Leap Years offer the most noticeable advantages for older dogs. However, it is during middle age that NAD concentrations begin to decline.

According to Rentko, some dogs may benefit from starting LeapYears earlier, especially if they have specific medical conditions that accelerate the aging process. In fact, many pet owners choose to proactively introduce LeapYears to their dogs once they reach maturity, in order to address the root causes of aging as soon as possible.

Before giving the supplement “LeapYears” to their dogs, it is crucial for owners to consult with their veterinarian. In a November 2023 article on their website, the American Kennel Club cautioned that supplements may potentially have a negative impact, especially if the dog is already on medication. The supplement is currently undergoing clinical trials.

According to the American Kennel Club, they have also reported “successful results” in the use of dog supplements.

Limited research has been conducted on the long-term effects of dog supplements. However, there have been some studies and anecdotal evidence that demonstrate positive outcomes. These include a shinier coat, increased energy levels, improved digestion, and enhanced cognitive function.

When purchasing supplements for your beloved pet, the American Kennel Club recommends that owners seek out a trustworthy brand that has conducted clinical studies or obtained certification from an independent organization.
